Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Deck 34- FSCO- Lt. Tahlmari- Day 2- 2406.03.04.1405 hrs) Mission: A Farewell to Things, Day 2, Stardate2406.03.04 Tahl went back to the monitor. After a qucik search he saw something else that made it all make sense, in a sick, nonsensicle way. The computer was running the simulation with all of the characters, save one. There was nobody in the character of Sinia. She had been eradicated from the simulation. the problem with that was that she was the one who found and disarmed the bomb. Without her in the program, there is no way to stop the explosion. Tahl stepped awy from the computer for a moment to gather his thoughts. What to do, what to do. He looked over at Bell, Fugan B'Lanor, and finally at Alexandra Lowell. At first sight of Alex his heart began to pound. He wanted to reach out and hold her. No, that was Sinia, and he was Bono. No, that was the simulation. These feelings are from the simulation. Aren't they? They seemed to real to be simulated emmotions. ~Stay focused Tahl.~ "That's it," Tahl cried out. "The computer is unable to tell the difference between reality and simulation. It doesn't know the difference. to it, they are both two different versions of the same reality. So it has crossed them over. The reality of the simulation has become real world reality." (reply any) "If I can create a simulation of Sinia, to find and dispose of the bomb, then hopefully it will shut down the reaction we're seeing here." (reply any, ifyw) Tahl went back to the computer. His hands flew across the screen. It didn't don on him that everything he was reading and writing was in T'Kon. But the computer picked it up pretty quick. A view screen came on so that Tahl and the others could monitor the progress of the simulation. After a few minutes, Tahl's headache began to rage. Suddenly Sinia appeared in the screen. She was, however, quite imobile. It was like a paper doll stuck to the scene. After a couple more minutes she became more animated. "Unfortunately, with time limit it have, that's the best I can do. Now we have to figure out where the bomb is." Alexandra Lowell - Day 2- 2406.03.04.1410 hrs) Alexandra got up and look at Tahl, a sense of warmth ran all over her body, to the point that she had difficulty to focus on what he was saying... until she word the word bomb. She could hear underneath her feet explosions, after explosions. "If I can create a simulation of Sinia, to find and dispose of the bomb, then hopefully it will shut down the reaction we're seeing here." "The labs is getting destroyed, are all the system of the station link to this simulation?" Tahl went back to the computer but he didn't seem to hear, concentrate on what he was doing. His hands flew across the screen. It didn't don on him that everything he was reading and writing was in T'Kon. But the computer picked it up pretty quick. Alexandra look beside him what he was doing, and saw that he was reading T'Kon, that was frighting her a little. ~That simulation did something, but what?~ A view screen came on so that Tahl and the others could monitor the progress of the simulation. After a few minutes, Tahl's headache began to rage. Suddenly Sinia appeared in the screen. She was, however, quite imobile. It was like a paper doll stuck to the scene. After a couple more minutes she became more animated. Alexandra closed her eyes and tried to remember Sinia's thoughts but the presence of Tahl so close was causing some major distraction. She took a few steps away and turn her back, force herself to look at another computer terminal. It came with a flash. "Unfortunately, with time limit it have, that's the best I can do. Now we have to figure out where the bomb is." "I think I know... Engineering, is where the last battle was. It's the place the captain locked himself in. Bell, Fugan, we are going to need your help!" [Authorisation confirm, emergency transporter engage] Alexandra tap her combadge. "Lt. Comdr. Lowell to Lt. She was psychotic, and pass her time in engineering, if my memory serves me right. Bell, you were inside her, try to remember. Let's search!" Suddenly a sound came out of the door of the stations power source. A voice that made Alexandra took a deep breath. "Come on and fight me... I have been waiting for so long for this revenge Lt. He had tried to tie it in with the activities of Alexandra. Now he was beginning to think that might have been an error. After a few seconds of searching for the where an explosive might be a voice came out. "Come on and fight me... I have been waiting for so long for this revenge Lt. Comdr. Lowell. Can't use... what do you call them... phasers, yes, can't use phasers in here." Tahl looked around but saw nobody. The voice was familiar. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. "Captain Sinoival!" Alex almost shouted. ~But how? That captain's been dead for centuries.~ The next thing Tahl knew was Alex handing him a fighting staff. It was the same weapon he had seen Sinia using in the simulation. She ordered Bell and B'Lanor to find the bombs while they took care of this problem. Tahl moved the staff around in his hands. He had never used one before, but he felt as if he'd used it all his life. The balance was incredible. He spun it around once and got into a fighting position. Then, out of the corner of his eye he saw some motion. He ducked and rolled across the floor as a blade barely missed him. For a moment he saw something, then it was gone. He looked down at his shiirt and saw that it had been sliced. ~A little too close.~ Then he saw it appear again, this time heading for Alexandra. "Now I've got you!" It was Sinoival, but the look on her face was horrific. "After all this time, finally you will die." Tahl couldn't believe it. The captain looked as she had in the simulation, save for the evil, angry look she sported. ~How?~ (reply Lowell) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Turbolift on way to Engineering- TAC/SC/2O Lt.Comdr. How Tahl knows to use the staff. We never practice Kendo or anbo-jytsu.~ Alexandra heard laughing, aware that now the captain was going to come after her. I seem to be her pattern. Her mind was working and reading her scan. ~Parts of my brain hab been worked... no that's not it. Memory engrams have been added. THAT'S IT!~ "I think I know why we are in this mess." Alexandra was angry not to have seen this. (Reply Tahl) Alexandra heard the laugh to her right but didn't make a move toward it. She knew that this was a tactic to get her out of her concentration and away from Tahl. Still, the captain didn't show herself. "That isn't the worst Tahl. Captain Sinoival said my name, not Sinia, if she is an holographic program attach to the computer. I practice every two days in an holodeck, I go against the computer, it learns... do you understand... You and me are fighting me? "Don't try to think or be logical about this. Let your instincts guide you." ~Don't be logical?~ Tahl laughed out loud. "What is logical about this?" But he took her words to heart and let his body move insitinctively. The captain took two swings at Alexandra then disappeared. "Tahl, what did you do?" Tahl was as surprised as she was. "Nothing! Honest." The wheels in his head started to turn. Then the thought hit him. What if the captain were not really here. What if it were a photonic being? A hologram produced by the computer. But the reactions were to real. The feelings were too ... . He had to get to a computer terminal. But as he turned there was Sinoival in front of him. "I don't think so," she said waving a finger. The blade struck straight for Tahl's heart. "You may have survived my first attempt to kill you, but not now." Instinct took over and Tahl paried and blocked at the onslaught attack. Suddenly he saw an opening and struck. The moment before the blade end of the staff struck the captain disappeared again with a laugh. Tahl new that he had to get to a terminal. "And a few other things. Fighting a hologram is quite fruitless for us. Any suggestions?" "You were inside the computer, you maybe saw something usefull... or the guardian put something usefull... remember he had thousands of years to think about this problem." "You can't! You can't! I will kill you, slowly, see the life drain out of you both. But before you die and this place will blow up." shrieked the captain. "Boy the woman had some serious issues. Okay, hang on, let me think." Tahl closed his eyes and concentrated. He could feel his mind going through the computer programs. Then he went rounds with some ideas he saw about holograms. You can't kill a hologram, but you can end his program. Not directly though. The best we can do is hold Sinoival off, and not let her kill us. To stop her I'll need to hit her at her program, or come up with something that will disrupt her photonic cohesion. Of course. "Alex," he said to her. Try and keep her busy for about one minute. You have the minute and more." ~What in the damn blazes will I do to attrack her attention... think! Sinia... could it be this simple.... why not.~ Alexandra took a few steps away from Tahl and a few breaths. "It's not going to work Sinoival. I have been trained. None of your actions will work against me." The holo-captain appeared a few meters away from her, but Alexandra suddenly acted like in pain, she made a grin closing tigh her eyes. Immidiately after, she looked at the captain with her most vicious smile and said softly. "Well, well, well! I hope the second time will be just has sweet has the first." "What?" The captain seem a little bit confuse by the change of attitude in Alexandra. "Don't you recognise the soul of your enemy. I found a way to be back amoung the living." Alexandra took a deep breath and appeared enjoying breathing again. "A nice body, perfect health!" "It's impossible. It's against the law..." "After you died, they discovered what you have done, pretty ingenious. What do you think the council would do? They are the one which made this possible for me, and they erase all trace of what they done, at the exception of one... the Guardian. Watching over the station, and this for over 30 000 years. Waiting for someone that could deal with you. Do you think the T'Kon empire would let you desecrate the memories of them... Face it Sinoival, Sinia Karsuna is back from the dead. Hopefully, this fight will be better then the first. You were really pitiful." "I WILL KILL YOU ALL!" She screamed on the top of her lungs. Alexandra suddenly realise that she maybe went to far, because the expression on Sinoival's face was of pure fury, and more ferocious then last time. The fight began, and to Alexandra's relief, the captain seem impervious about Tahl's where abouts, but it wasn't to reassure her because now he was out of her sight. ~You better hurry Tahl... I don't know how long I will hold her engage on this fight.~ (Reply from Tahl, anyone) (Posted by Laurence Durand) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Main Engineering- FSCO- Lt. Tahlmari- Day 2- 2406.03.04.1420 hrs) Tahl heard the heated word exchange behind him and the clash of weapons. He hated leaving Alex to deal with the holographic Sinoival alone, but what he had in mind he had to get to a computer terminal. He wasn't sure what Alex said the dead captain but she certainly was occupied. He had to move fast. He made his way to a terminal and got to work. He immediately went into the holoemitter program. What he needed to do is give Alex a mental edge over the hologram. He found the buffer that contained Sinoival's program. ~My, my she has been working on this for a long time.~ There were gigaquads of information in the program. But he only had to find one piece. And there it was. Now a moment to get past the security lock outs. Tahl almost laughed at the simplicity of the lock out. "It's a good thing I've been able to retain this information," Tahl said to himself. then he realized that perhaps it was the design of the computer that he retained it. He patted the console, "Thanks old girl." Now he was past the lock out and had full access to the holoemitters. With a few swift commands he took away the hoolograms ability to disappear and reappear. He also gave it a little more substance. This way the blows from Alex will hurt it. She can't actually kill it but it might give her a psychological edge. Then there was coup d'grass. He added a few lines to the program so that when it is struck it will actually bleed. Photonic blood, true, but again, it was a psychological edge he was looking for. Next he went into the regeneration program and discontinued the continuity of the hologram. Now, once it was shut down it would be shut down for good. Now to disconect the program. That was the strangest part. It seemed to be running on an independant power source. Almost as if it had a mobile emitter. There must be a power source from somewhere. Or at least a way to cut of the power supply. Or even just disrupt the photonic cohesion of the hologram. ~Come on Tahl, think.~ (rply Lowell, any) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Turbolift on way to Engineering- TAC/SC/2O Lt.Comdr. Alexandra wanted to make her more occupied despite that she was hit half a douzen times and that she receive a hit at her jaw which made her mouth bleed. "Computer, play music program of combat Lowell 2. Play it to a background sound." Alexandra smiled to the captain. "That is much, much better. Rock rules!" The captain got more angry, but Alexandra found her rythm. Suddenly, Alexandra saw the opportunity to hit her and she took it. The captain flew in the air landing five meters away. ~Good work Tahl!~ The captain seem to be desoriented for a moment, wondering what just happen, but when she saw Alexandra coming with a corner smile close to amusement, she put herself in combat position and they had it again. "It hurts isn't it? Good! I have some score to settle with you... a little bit of justice will not hurt." The fight continued, after a few moves, Alexandra found an openning and hit the captain who landed on her side. "This is for Sinia and Bono" She attack the captain again who got up and charge her. "This is for the twins that lost their father." Alexandra gave her a hit in the stomach. "This is for me and Tahl." The blade hit the arm of the captain and it bled. "How can this be?" She growled, but put herself in the fight position. "Right now, I don't have time. I have not finish yet." Alexandra and the captain had it out for the last time and suddenly after having taken herself a few blow and near miss from the blade, she disarmed the captain and hit it making her land nearly at the same spot that Sinia had the first time around. Alexandra pushed away the staff, and will the captain was regaining her senses she took the handcuff and immobilised her to a beem near the door. "Tahl, she is secure now. Tahl turned to computer screen and accessed the simulation program. The computer responded the moment he touched it. It was as if they were still connected in some way. Alexandra found it strange, it was like if an invisible hand was guiding them through this. He moved Sinia to the same area that Fugan had found his detonator. There it was. In the same spot. "I've got it. Now all I need to know is, what do you want to do with it, and when?" Alexandra look at the device schematics through the computer, this wasn't good. She straight herself up. It was at an akward spot and needed two person to disarmed. Also, it was to be done at the very last second, done to early the fellsafe would turn on and everything would blow. We will do this." "Yes sir" replied Fugan though he belived that the two officers would be too involved in the task before them to hear him, "Computer begin procedures to shut down the power core" [Confirmed] "Computer if a sizeable power surge is detected from the device attached to plasma flow regulator 1-alpha-omega, which would indicate the device will denonate, transport Lt Cmdr Lowell and Lt Bell to the Cochrane and erect a level 10 force field around the device and the power core of this station" [Confirmed] Fugan then tapped his combadge, "B'Lanor to Cochrane, beam Lt Bell and myself directly to the bridge" As the transporter beam enveloped him Fugan turned to the two officers, "Live long and prosper" (Reply from Bell, Tahl, Alexandra, anyone) (Posted by John Morrison) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF-Engineering - ACSO Fugan B'Lanor - Day 2- 2406.03.04.1426 hrs) "I belive i may have located one of the devices Lt.Comdr. It should also be noted that the devices appear to be real, and show considerable signs of ageing, however they are linked to an active holographic program, logically the simulation of the captain" "Several!" replied the Lt.Comdr. "Yes it could be link to the captain, but I didn't want to kill her in the case that it would activate the devices. We have less then five minutes to take control." Fugan continued to scan the device, comparing it to its equivalent from other alpha quadrant races that he was aware off, unfortunatly he was unable to conceive a similar device that may assist in this devices deactivation. "I've got it. Now all I need to know is, what do you want to do with it, and when?" Fugan heard Tahlmari speak behind him "It's a two person work, I need a volunter." "I would be cofortable to volunter for the task, however i belive that Lt. Tahlmari- Day 2- 2406.03.04.1427) Tah heard the sounds of the battle stop. He tilted his head and strained to hear. A little fear trickled into his heart, but some how he knew that if it had been bad, that he would have known already. Tahl relaxed when he heard Alex call out, "She is secure now." He sat back for a moment but he knew that it wasn't over yet. They only had minutes to deactivate the bomb. B'Lanor eplained to ALex what he had found. "The detonator seems to be linked to several more such devices and they require to be deactivated simultaneously. It should also be noted that the devices appear to be real, and show considerable signs of ageing, however they are linked to an active holographic program, logically the simulation of the captain." Tahl nodded to himself. He thought that might be the case. That was why he had created the holographic Sinia. She was going to have to work inside the simulation. Lowell came up behind Tahl. "What did you find?" Tahl looked at her, her face a little too close for comfort. He shifted a little in his seat to get focused. "Well, Sinoival was good, but not too imaginative. I imagine that she probably put the detonator in the same place as it is in real life." He turned to computer screen and accessed the simulation program. The computer responded the moment he touched it. It was as if they were still connected in some way. He moved Sinia to the same area that Fugan had found his detonator. There it was. In the same spot. "I've got it. Now all I need to know is, what do you want to do with it, and when?" (reply Lowell, B'Lano, Bell) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Engineering- TAC/SC/2O Lt.Comdr. Alexandra Lowell - Day 2- 2406.03.04.1427 hrs) Alexandra look at the device through the computer, this wasn't good. She straight herself up. It was at an akward spot and needed two person to disarmed. Also, it was to be done at the very last second, done to early the fellsafe would turn on and everything would blow. Taking one part would make the other turn on the signal and do the same thing. "It's a two person work, I need a volunter." "I would be cofortable to volunter for the task, however i belive that Lt. Tahlmari has a far greater knowledge of ordanance and Mr Bell is much more practically proficient than myself" Replied Fugan. Alexandra gave Bell a look, he seem a little bit out of sort right now, and Tahl, she wanted him out of the station, save his life and yet Fugan said the truth. Tahl had a lot of knowledge, like herself. She took a deep breath. "Fugan, Bell, get out of the station right now. We will do this." Alexandra didn't wait for any replies, there was only three minutes left. She rush to the location, looked around, saw one of the bombs and the detonator. If they wouldn't succeed they would die instantaniously. She scan the device, to access the inside, she had to force open the lid. Once done, she scanned it and link herself to the chronometer. "There's two minutes left." Alexandra moved around, found the fellsafe, running on adrenaline she grabe the side and succeeded to tear it up carefully. "Take this, you will have to pull it toward you at the very last second." Alexandra took a deep breath has she grab the other link and a computer Isolinear Chips. The way they were put she couldn't have pull them with one hand, she needed both and they were well attach. Tahl was on her left, she turn her head toward him, her heart beat fast in her chest to the point that it hurt. She wanted to tell him something, but it was stuck in her throat. He seem to be struggling also with his mind. Alexandra force herself to concentrate on the bomb and the seconds from the possible detonation if it didn't work but couldn't tear her eyes from him like they were lock. In her mind, the seconds were passing like sands in an hourglass. ~10, 9, 8, 7, 6 (Reply from Tahl, Bell, B'Lanor, anyone) (Posted by Laurence Durand) Stardate:2406.03.04 (CRF- Main Engineering- FSCO- Lt. Tahlmari- Day 2-2406.03.04.1427) Mission: A Farewell to Things, Day 2, Stardate2406.03.04 "Take this," Alex said, handing Tahl an extremely dangerous looking piece of equipment. He held it up to notice that there were wires attatched to the explosive. This was one of the detonators. "You will have to pull it towards you at the very last second." Tahl nodded as he watched she grabbed the link to the other detonator and reached for an isolinear chip in the computer core of the explosive. All three would have to be seperated at the same time from the transponder that sent the message to detonate. Any delay in any of them could spell disaster. On top of that, Tahl was still manipulating the holographic Sinia to disarm the bomb inside the simulation. ~Now this is not a trick people should do at home. How long left? one minute!~ At least his last sight would be of Alexandra. He thought of saying something important, but knew that this was not the place, nor did he really have the time. He just wanted to touch her once more. ~Get over it Tahl and stay focused.~ Tahl shook his head and gave Alex a confident smile. He winked and gave her a thumbs up. The count down had begun. ~5,4,3,2,1~ As if on cue, but with out a word, Tahl pulled with his left, moved Sinia with his right, all while watching Alex do her thing. He grimaced al little in preperation for the mpending explossion, that never came. He waited a few seconds later, until he figured he wasn't breathing. He took a deep long breath, that soounded loud in the now empty room. He dropped his head and looked at his feet. It was the first moment he had actually taken his eyes off Alex in a while. Slowly he smiled. Then came a litle chuckle. That was followed by a longer chuckle, which woulnd up in a full laugh. "YES!!" he said.He placed his detonator on the console and moved quickly over to Alex. He threw his arms around her and turned her in a circle."We did it," he said. He couldn't believe how good it felt to hold her. He reached up a gave her a big smacking kiss on the mouth. Once pull, she closed her eyes, like waiting for something, them open them. They were alive, no explosion. Alexandra look at Tahl, she wanted to go toward him but felt frozen in place has she put on the console the isolinear ship. She took a deep breath, like if it was the first time she took one. She heard Tahl laugh and it seem contagious, because she started to laugh too. "YES!!" Tahl said. He placed his detonator on the console and moved quickly over to Alex. He threw his arms around her and turned her in a circle. "We did it," he said. Before she could add any words, Tahl gave her a kiss that without thinking she replied. It felt so good and electrifying that she didn't want it to stop, has her arms surrounded him, but she did after a couple of minutes. They look at each other, Alexandra felt that something else was there, between them that is. It was a strong bound, she lay her left hand on Tahl's face has she plung her eyes into his. "This nightmare is over and..." Then she remembered captain Sinoival. "Maybe not! The captain." Alexandra rush toward where the captain was handcuff. There was no one at the exception of the restraints on the floor. Alexandra didn't waist any time, she went to the console, punch the security records, and went backwards for about the three minutes. She could feel Tahl beside her, the captain just simply disappeared and it seem that Sinoival wasn't happy about it. "Thank god for small favors... don't have to deal with her anymore." In the middle of engineering, about three meters beside them, an hologram appeared, it was the hologuardian. Alexandra stand up and made a few steps toward him. RPG: Tahl listened with great interest to the computer. He smiled openly when he thought of his mind giving a sense of order and balance. That would be a first, since his own mind seemed to have very little order most of the time. But now, even he felt the results of the computer on his mind. He does seem to be having fewer random thoughts passing through his mind. There's a sense of fucus he didn't have before. He hoped it would be permanent. Lowell looked at Tahl and said, "What should we think of that? To many parallels or just one big weird coincidence, which I don't believe in?" "I'm not not a big coincidence fan either," Tahl replied. "But then you have to wonder about fate. I've never been much of a fatalist either." Tahl looked over at Alexandra and felt a strange well of emmotions filling him. He and Alex had the opportunity to become friends before this, but now his feelings were much more intense. Could the computer have left a little more than just a certain clarity in his mind? He wanted to reach out and hold her. That night in the sickbay... But that was just a simulation. Woud it be the same in the real world. After all, he wouldn't have that telepathic conection. His mind drifted to thoughts of making love to Alexandra Lowell. He shook his head. So much for focus. Alex's voice brought him back to reality with a start. "Do you know what I hate the most, the lenghty report I will have to write. Anything to propose we do?" Tahl looked at her for a moment before he could respond. "Do?" was all he coould come up with. "Oh, yeah, reports. I am not looking forward to spending an evening alone with a lengthy report to write." "I propose this," Alex continued. "I don't know about you but I'm starved. Why don't we go to the Tactical office and do those reports. I will invite Bell and Fugan and we will have diner." "That sounds like a great idea," Tahl said, trying not to put some disapointent in his voice. At first the thought of spending time alone with Alexandra was exciting. Now he was kind of wary of it. Having Bell and B'Lanor there, hopefully, would be enough to keep him out of trouble. Or at least out of the brig for molesting his superior officer. Lowell placed the call to James and Fugan. With all of them on it they shoud be able to whip out a report in no time. He heard Alex say, "Dinner is on me." This conjured up a most erotic image for Tahl. ~This is going to be a very dangerous relationship.~ (reply none) (posted by Al Muir)
